Halloween 2010

Ryan's first "real" Halloween - last year we put him in a cute orange & black Halloween onesie and called it good. This year was the full fledged costume. Not sure why we do these things, but we do. He has no idea what Halloween is, or what it means to trick-or-treat, or why the heck everyone looks so funny in their outfits, but he does know what candy is. And he knows where the bowl is that the candy is kept in....we're in trouble already. So even though I know it's completely unnecessary to celebrate Halloween by dressing him up, it was fun nonetheless. And, yes, we'll do it again next year.

We didn't actually go trick-or-treating this year; Andy was out of town, it was cold outside and pouring down rain, and I don't want (too much) candy in my house. So the poor kid got dressed up to hand out candy at our house! But, we did make it to two Halloween parties and the annual elementary school trick-or-treat parade to the local businesses. So he got some good use of the costume and a pretty good idea of what it's all about. We also got to carve pumpkins with Dad before he left town. Ryan thought that was pretty cool...he just kept saying "ball, ball." I think if we'd let him get his hands on one, he would have attempted to throw it. All in all, a fun Halloween!

Cute pumpkins, super cute costume! He'll absolutely love it next year. Abby thought it was the BEST thing ever. She kept trying to grab handfuls of candy and go in people's houses. And sometimes it took her 2 minutes to wave and say good-bye and see ya. Priceless!
